Bad old days can’t return

WATCHING Dundalk, and then Cork City and Shamrock Rovers, exit European competitions this week dealt our ‘Home Game’ a serious dig in the solar plexus.

After Dundalk’s joyous journey last year through the Europa League, it was felt that our best would now have more confidence in bringing their talent across the continent. But this week’s results reminded us of the bad old days.

Those are days nobody wishes to return to, and those in charge of Irish football need to act and act decisively in seeing to it that we do not take a long step backwards.
