THIS movement does wonders for the joints in your legs, oiling your hips, knees, ankles and feet, so can help prevent arthritis and rheumatism.

Stand straight with feet together, then lift your left foot on to your right thigh (if this is too difficult, place your foot in a comfortabl­e position on your ankle or calf — but don’t wedge it against your knee joint).

Staring at a spot to help you balance, inhale and lift your arms straight up in the air, place your palms together and cross your thumbs. Hold for a count of five, rising to ten as you improve.

Exhale, relax and repeat with the opposite leg.
