Rail mistake

Your story about the Dart passenger being fined €100 (MoS, July 16) reflects very badly on Irish Rail. Given that he made an honest mistake and that the ticket to Lansdowne that he bought cost exactly the same as the ticket to Blackrock that he should have bought, it’s astonishing that anyone would even have thought of fining him.
