Love Island was Jess a madhouse
But I’m no faker, says star
LOVE Island was the sizzling hit of the summer. And this week one of the show’s hottest contestants, Jess Shears, flew into Dublin to promote Iconic Bronze tan.
The Diary caught up with Jess, who shared some of the romantic developments from the Love Island villa.
Speaking about the eventual winners, Amber and Kem, she said that they were surprise victors.
‘I genuinely wasn’t sure they were going to make it, because obviously Amber’s had so much stick over the course of the programme that I wasn’t sure if everyone was going to come round to her.
‘But I got along with her really well in there.
‘It was only a few things afterwards I was like, “Oh God, Amber, why did you do that?”’
Jess was actually cheering for her friend Olivia, hoping she would walk away with the man and the money.
‘I obviously wanted Chris and Liv to win but I’m happy for them regardless.’
And while it may have looked all sunshine and smiles, Jess said it was ‘madness’ in the villa.
‘Every day the time goes so quickly but it also feels like you’ve been there forever.
‘Like, I’ve known Dom seven weeks and it feels like I’ve dated him, like, a year and a half. So bizarre.‘
She also revealed the darker side of the instant fame she has achieved.
‘I’ve been trolled since I left the villa.
‘I’ve had a thick skin for a while but it’s definitely had to get thicker, that’s for sure.’
And while Jess has no qualms about faking her tan, she did not fake her personality in the villa – nor was she told to behave in a certain way by producers.
‘I wasn’t personally told to act any way or to be a certain person. I was pretty much myself in there,’ she said.
