Trees under threat

-

THOUSANDS of people have signed a petition to save a line of historic trees from being felled to make way for a cycle lane in Dublin.

Almost 50 trees in Dublin’s Fairview Park, some of which are more than 100 years old, are set for the chop as part of the design for a 2.5km cycle route.

The proposed design has caused a wave of objections from councillors, cyclists and environmentalists. Last night an online petition to ‘Save the Fairview Trees’ had 3,686 signatures.
