Prove you’re deserving

-

GALWAY hurling manager Micheál Donoghue hinted strongly this week that those who love the game all over the country would like to see a new name on the Liam MacCarthy Cup – besides Kilkenny and Tipperary, of course. He was clearly pointing at his own dressing room, or Derek McGrath’s strong-willed bunch in Waterford.

And, indeed, there is always something refreshing about seeing one of the ‘outsiders’ land the big one.

It’s almost 30 years since Galway’s last All-Ireland hurling title triumph, but today they need to prove without any shadow of a doubt that they are deserving of regaining that title more than Tipperary are deserving of holding onto it for another winter.

May the best team win in a likely thundering game.
