We can do even better, insists Lionesses boss

- By Oliver Todd

ENGLAND are back at home instead of playing in today’s Women’s European Championship final — but the Lionesses insist they are still on the up.

Hosts Holland, who beat England in the semi-final, face Denmark for the title. But Mark Sampson (right) is already talking about women’s football entering a new ‘stratosphere’ in England. ‘Four million people watched the Holland game on TV,’ said the manager. ‘If someone had said that four years ago noone would ever have believed them. ‘Women’s football has had another shift forward and it’s important we continue to do that in every area — grassroots to the England team.’ Euro 2017 final — Holland v Denmark, 4pm, live on Channel 4
