Merkel ‘no hero’

I cannot ever recall disagreeing with Joe Duffy’s viewpoint before, but his article on Angela Merkel (MoS, July 30) is the exception.

Yes, Joe did acknowledge that Angela Merkel stood by, as the European Central Bank destroyed Ireland’s economy, by insisting that Ireland bailed out wealthy bondholders.

But in referring to the one million refugees Ms Merkel welcomed to Germany, he fails to recall that Frau Merkel has acknowledged that mistakes were made. Further, her gesture did not stop other European nations putting up fences to keep these people out. Personally, I believe that Angela Merkel’s fanaticism for the European Union was responsible for the death of tens of thousands of innocent people, who sacrificed their lives to reach their Utopia. Can I suggest that Joe read The Strange Death Of Europe, by Douglas Murray.

Unquestionably, the European Union will destroy every country’s nationality. It has already started in my beloved Ireland, and surely even Joe must acknowledge this ?
