Timing is crucial

-

I’m a retired nun and have had plenty of life experience. During the week, however, my nephew was driving me to my sister’s house. The radio was on and we were listening to Ray D’Arcy when all of a sudden, at 4pm in the day, he starts a discussion with a sex therapist. Ray is a talented broadcaster but I must tell you how awkward that 10 minutes of radio was, as Ray and the therapist discussed matters of an extremely intimate nature.

It was a worthwhile topic but my nephew and I were both mortified and neither of us had the courage to acknowledge the embarrassment and change the station. Could RTÉ not reconsider the timing of such advice and perhaps broadcast it a little later. Sexual remedies are essential but timing is everything.
