LEO VARADKAR is this weekend enjoying a return trip to Canada to visit his new best friend, dreamboat politician Justin Trudeau.

It comes as documents released to the Irish Mail on Sunday reveal that Mr Trudeau’s July visit to Ireland left taxpayers with bill for more than €46,000.

That bill even included €18 for a pair of Book of Kellsthemed novelty socks from Carrolls Irish Gifts, one of several gifts for Mr Trudeau and his family.

The cost of a dinner in Mr Trudeau’s honour in Dublin Castle made up the bulk of the bill, paid by the Department of the Taoiseach bill.

The cost of the banquet came to €12,003.

The visit turned into a daylong bromance that included a jog together through the Phoenix Park.

Mr Vardakar is to attend the Montreal gay pride march today, and will also inspect how the US-Canada border works during the three-day official visit, which will take in Toronto as well.
