US TV star Eoin melts Anya’s heart

WITH a role as a dishy medic on NBC’s The Night Shift, Howth native Eoin Macken is forging a reputation stateside as a Celtic-tinged Dr McDreamy.

But having popped the question to actress girlfriend Anya Taylor-Joy in Iceland, the Dubliner is officially Mr Betrothed.

Macken proposed to British-American actress Anya, 21, and was delighted when she said yes. The pair have been dating for a couple of years.

Former Fair City actor Macken, 34, is based in the US, where his turn as a former army doctor adjusting to civilian life in a busy ER department has been a hit. The former UCD student has also turned his hand to writing, with his second novel, Hunter And The Grape, due out next month.

Macken, 34, has been dating Anya, pictured with Macken, right, for a couple of years.

Anya, who lived in Argentina as a child and spoke only Spanish until the age of six, is making waves in the acting world herself, and was nominated for a Bafta Rising Star award earlier this year. She had a prominent role in Vikram Gandhi’s Barry, a movie based on the life of a young Barack Obama.
