Áras vote is essential

INDEPENDENT TD Michael Fitzmaurice, elected on a platform to protect turfcutting rights, is rumoured to be interested in joining the presidential race next year. Senator Gerard Craughwell has announced his candidacy. Michael D Higgins has been a wonderful president, but no one should ever again get a clear 14-year run in the Áras. Even if Higgins looks like a shoo-in, we still must have an election.
