THERE’S NO FILLING THIS CLOUD
The cloud has become part of our lives. We store everything there from our photos, phone back-ups and even boarding passes. There is a huge difference between what you get for free and what you get when you pay. Dropbox provides only 2GB of storage for free and Apple 5GB, while New Zealand-based mega.nz provides 50GB for free. However, with a Microsoft Office365 subscription for €69 per year you get a terabyte of storage. That’s more than most of us will ever need. The real value in this deal is that you also get full versions of Microsoft applications such as Word and Excel, including the brilliant iOS and Android apps. The annual €99 version gets you five licences to share with the family. will boil the kettle for you first thing in the morning – or whenever you get up! There’s a home mode that switches on the kettle using the location of your phone and you can add extra users to the kettle as everyone probably likes a cuppa when they come in.
The formula mode is ideal for new parents and will heat the kettle and alert you when it’s at the ideal temperature for making baby formula.
The reason I waited and bought the third version of this kettle, though, is the smart-home integration.
The iKettle is now compatible with Nest and Amazon’s Echo. After connecting the kettle to my Amazon account, I can now simply speak the command from the sofa: ‘Alexa, boil the kettle.’
It may seem like a small thing, but when you need a cuppa, you need one, and it doesn’t get much easier than this.
