CHAOS AT THE CAUSEWAY

-

Chaos reigned on the roads around the Giant’s Causeway last Sunday. Cars parked all along the grass verges, others on double yellow lines. I had to reverse, with loads of others, to let a coach get past. It was mayhem. ‘They should book them all’, I announced that evening to my sister who lives nearby. ‘That kind of parking on those narrow roads is ridiculous’. And it is. But, she enlightened me, there is currently much ado about the parking/ entry prices at the National Trust’s Giant’s Causeway site. And just strolling down to ‘the stones’, without paying for the privilege, doesn’t seem to be as easy as it once was. I phoned Northern Ireland Tourism on Monday to find out what’s going on. They couldn’t tell me but said they’d get someone from the National Trust to ring me. I’m still waiting for the call.
