‘Molly and Me’ with Charlize Theron and Colin Farrell

THE former fiancé of killer Molly Martens once told an interviewer that he would like Charlize Theron to play her in a movie of his life. And Kevin Maginn, who split from Martens shortly before she moved to Ireland, said he would choose Colin Farrell to play him, the Irish Mail on Sunday can reveal.

Eerily, back in 2012, three years before Molly brutally murdered her husband Jason Corbett, Maginn penned a self-help book, Turning this Thing Around, documenting his life with Martens – who, earlier this month, along with her father, former FBI agent, Tom was convicted of the second degree murder of her husband – and her time spent in a psychiatric institute. After he had split from his fiancée, Maginn gave an interview to publicise the book in which he said he would like the Irish actor to portray him.

Speaking to writers’ forum, Authors Club, he said that Castleknock actor, Colin would be the perfect man for the role. ‘Wow, great question! Hmm...I would choose Colin Farrell to play me – though he is far better-looking than me and has a cool Irish accent! – and Charlize Theron my fiancée.’

In an exclusive interview with the MoS’s sister paper, the Irish Daily Mail before the trial, the 37-year-old says her father was aware of her many problems. ‘Molly was taking 16 prescription drugs a day – with another ten to be used ‘as needed’. ‘They [her parents] were aware.’ Maginn also gave some insight into her state of mind when she first came to Ireland.

‘She was definitely still unstable when she left [for Ireland] and I seriously doubt she got cured as soon as she set foot on Irish soil.’
