World number 2 Andy Murray has withdrawn from the US Open after struggling to recover from an ongoing hip injury which restricted him at Wimbledon earlier in the summer. Murray, who claimed the title in 2012, was due to play American Tennys Sandgren in the opening round, but the Scot insisted his hip was ‘too sore’ and may opt not to play again this year.
