Drink-drive Rooney’s brunette: We would have spent the night together

As Coleen flies home for showdown with wayward soccer star...

AS A shame-faced Wayne Rooney was facing a very uncomfortable conversation with his pregnant wife yesterday, the woman at the centre of his drink-drive arrest scandal wasn’t making things any easier for him.

Laura Simpson, 29, made it clear the former England captain’s intentions in taking the wheel of her car after a 10-hour drinking session were not entirely honourable.

With his wife Coleen in Spain with their three children, Rooney, 31, downed vodka and prosecco with friends at several Cheshire nightspots. By 2am, Ms Simpson said she reckoned he was ‘up for it’. And so, she admitted, was she.

But she said the intervention of police officers who breathalysed Rooney after he had driven Ms Simpson’s car ‘spoiled the night’.

Yesterday, the £130,000-a-week Everton star faced a showdown with his ‘livid’ wife, who cut short her Majorca holiday with their three young sons to confront him.

Only a fortnight ago, Coleen took to Twitter to say she was ‘so happy’ to announce her pregnancy.

As an unapologetic Ms Simpson prepared to sell her story to a redtop tabloid yesterday, she received abuse on social media and a texted threat, which she claimed came from a friend of Rooney. It read: ‘Don’t dare sell your story to the papers. You know what will happen. You’ll be making more s*** for him and he doesn’t need it.’

On Twitter, she hinted that she was considering a career in reality TV by retweeting a friend’s suggestion that she go on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!

Single mother of one Ms Simpson, from Irlam, Greater Manchester, has told how Rooney ogled her breasts and sent a message via a friend that they should ‘go on somewhere’ after the drinking session.

The party girl told MailOnline that she would have slept with the multi-millionaire footballer. ‘Was I going to spend the night with him? Yes, perhaps, but we hadn’t really discussed it. That was clearly his intention – why else would we be driving off together?

‘I was up for it and so was he until he got arrested for drink-driving. It spoiled the night!’

Ms Simpson, a £40,000-a-year regional sales manager for a property developer, said: ‘I’m dreading going into work on Monday – they’ll all be talking about me and Wayne! But nothing really happened – just a kiss and squeeze.’

Ms Simpson caught Rooney’s eye as he was out partying on Thursday at a bar in Wilmslow, Cheshire, not far from his £6 m home. She said he ogled her breasts, saying: ‘What size are they? Are they real? I’d like to get my hands on them. I laughed. He was being flirty and I didn’t tell him my boobs are fake!’

Ms Simpson boasts of having 32E breasts, and her social media accounts are littered with revealing selfies. She was unrepentant about the night out, adding: ‘I did nothing wrong. I’m single and having fun.’

She added: ‘He was asking where I lived, what I did, we were just having a bit of banter. I was swept away with the moment but I wasn’t awestruck, he’s just a normal fella I’m having a laugh with. I’m not a marriage-wrecker.

‘We had a kiss, a hug and some banter, harmless fun. When the bar was closing one of Wayne’s pals came up to me and said: “Wayne likes the look of you and wants to go somewhere with you.”

‘I said: “Yeah, okay.” I thought: “Why not, he’s not a bad-looking guy and he’s funny.” I was told to meet him outside in a taxi which had been called. I left through the front door and Wayne snuck out through the back. It was about 1.15am. We arranged for the taxi to drop us off at my friend’s house where I had left my car earlier.’

Ms Simpson owns a distinctive black VW Beetle with a soft-top tan roof: ‘A lovely little car, very rare; it’s years old and cost me £4,000.’

She said: ‘The taxi dropped us off, it was a five-minute ride or so and Wayne paid. We decided to drive off into the night – we had no idea where we were going.

‘I was very drunk and Wayne said: “Do you want me to drive?” and I said: “Yes, I can’t. I’m too p **** d!”

‘He’d been drinking but didn’t seem that drunk and took control. Nothing happened in the car, he didn’t make a grab for me.’

Ten minutes into the journey, Rooney was stopped by the police, breathalysed and arrested. He has been charged with drink-driving. Last night, a spokesman for the footballer declined to comment.
