PR guru danced her way to fame

- By Niamh Walsh

ANDREA PAPPIN is a communications specialist who in recent years worked for the State as a spokeswoman for Ireland’s EU Presidency, as well as the Labour-Fine Gael coalition’s All About Jobs campaign and, more recently, Brexit.

However, before the thirtysomething came to prominence this week due to her taking up a position with the new Strategic Communications Unit, she had already hit the headlines as a YouTube ‘sensation’ in 2013.

A video that went viral online showed her dancing with a Dublin taxi driver when his way was blocked by a crowd in celebratory mood – due to some sunshine – on Exchequer Street in the centre of the capital, just beside the popular Stag’s Head pub.

Wearing a blue shift dress which she paired with trainers, and clutching a drink, Ms Pappin pulled the initially peeved taxi driver out of his car to dance to the tune of Daft Punk’s hit, Get Lucky.
