Mr Wild Atlantic Way will run new unit
John ConCAnnon joins the new Strategic Communications Unit as chief from his role as director of Creative Ireland – a Government initiative intended to build on the cultural legacy of the 1916 Rising centenary.
The choreography surrounding the centenary was masterminded by Mr Concannon as director of the commemorative programme.
Prior to that, Mr Concannon, a native of Sligo, was the marketing director with Fáilte Ireland. During his time at the tourism board he is credited with having devised such successful initiatives as The Gathering and the Wild Atlantic Way.
Mr Concannon lives in Galway with his wife, Mary, and their three daughters.
