After failing to secure a Dáil seat in the 2016 election, the former senator expected to be nominated by the party for a second stint in the Seanad. However, Ms Reilly, who served as a Senator since 2011, was informed that the party would be nominating Pádraig Mac Lochlainn instead. Afterwards she told the Irish Times: ‘You do feel cast aside, not so much by the voters but by the party.’ NOW: Currently working for the Irish Heart Foundation.
