Fair Lady with a bad habit

Audrey smoked British cigarettes from the day Holland was liberated by the British, her son Luca reveals. She explained to him: ‘Freedom has a special smell to me – the smell of British petrol and British cigarettes.’

The lighter, above right, was a gift from Gene Allen, art director on My Fair Lady. The engraved snuffbox, above left, is a memento of the same film, from her co-star rex Harrison, who played Henry Higgins to her eliza doolittle, above. They are being sold as one lot.
