Sparkling on the red carpet

Holly Golightly’s 1961 beehive and jewelled headpiece was perhaps partly inspired by this paste tiara, above, that Hepburn frequently wore with white gloves, below, on the red carpet at film premieres in the 1950s. she is pictured, right, wearing them as she prepares for the 1957 premiere of the Nun’s story. Her glamour was a side of her little seen by her sons. luca says: ‘We only saw her in jeans and a top! Eventually i realised she was special because photographers would follow her.’ Four pairs of gloves are being sold as one lot.
