Chelsea are primed to expose Arsenal’s flaws

-

CHELSEA must have taken one look at the way Arsenal played on Thursday night and thought they’re going to have a field day today.

Although the Gunners got a good 3-1 win over Koln in the Europa League eventually, including a cracking goal from Alexis Sanchez, they were wide open and exposed against the German side.

And if I was Antonio Conte or his players, I would be relishing the prospect of facing Arsenal at Stamford Bridge this afternoon.

This current Gunners side is nowhere near the level of the iconic sides of 15/20 years ago, which is reflected in the fact they are not in the Champions League this season.

Arsene Wenger’s sides have always been associated with great football but I don’t think they are even that great to watch at the moment.

They move the ball so slowly and no one is prepared to take a chance.

They are certainly nowhere near the level of those who finished above them in the Premier League last season.

That’s where Arsenal are just now. Wenger has decided to stay and will see out his contract and the position of the majority of the fans will not change now.

Even if they beat Chelsea today, you know for a fact that they will be calling for Wenger’s head again if their season is derailed in a couple of months.

Contrast that with Chelsea who are back on track after the opening day blip at home to Burnley.

They have looked assured, confident and full of attacking promise and, after a good win over Leicester last weekend, made a comfortable return to the Champions League in midweek.

There’s no doubt I’d rather be a Chelsea fan than Arsenal at the moment.
