Enda line for tumbling Sky

-

APOLOGIES if this dredges up bad memories but the first thing that sprang to mind upon hearing that Enda Kenny will be on Sky Sports’ coverage today was the cringeworthy appearance of Bertie Ahern analysing the Premiership on RTé many moons ago. We all watched that from behind the sofa. In fairness to our more recent Taoiseach, he had more pedigree than his predecessor to offer some pearls of sporting wisdom given that his late father, Henry did win an All-Ireland with Mayo all the way back in 1936. Still, this all just seems a stunt by Sky to boost poor viewing figures, which shouldn’t be so low given the quality of Peter Canavan and James Horan’s incisive analysis. This is one idea that should have never left the production meeting.
