It’s official... a rent-a-goldfish scheme

Hotel rooms can be lonely places when you travel by yourself. But how lonely would you really need to be to rent a goldfish – yes, a goldfish – to keep you company? Yet that is the latest gimmick being operated at the Hotel Charleroi Airport in Belgium where, if social media reaction is anything to go by, it’s a gimmick that’s actually catching on. Originally there was just a goldfish in a bowl at the reception desk, put there to engage guests while they waited to check in. Now, however, that has morphed into a Rent-A-Fish scheme where, for €3.50 a night, you can have your very own goldfish delivered to your room. Another kind of room service altogether. Fish without the chips, anyone?
