Travel TREATS

- By Eddie Coffey

ORLANDO FOR FAMILIES:

It’s becoming easier by the day to holiday in America, both in terms of choice of airlines and holiday companies offering a range of great deals. One that caught my eye this week was Tour America’s teaming up with Virgin Atlantic to bring families to Orlando. Seven nights’ accommodation at Rosen Inn at Pointe Orlando and flights in June 2018 costs €429 per person, based on two adults and two children sharing. Ring them in Dublin at (01) 817 3500 or Cork at (021) 242 9222 , or visit touramerica.ie.

RYANAIR’S €9.99 SALE:

It has to be said that Ryanair has had better weeks, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise that its marketing department was working late on Friday. At 10.24pm the inbox pinged with news of a one-million-seat sale from €9.99. The sale ends tomorrow night at midnight. Well, it’s an ill wind that doesn’t blow some good in our direction!

DOLOMITES DETOX:

Fancy a digital detox? Well, you’ll surely get just that at the top of a mountain in the breathtaking Italian Dolomites. Stay in a small luxury hotel in a world heritage site. Adler Mountain Lodge offers just such a break – half-board from November 12 to November 19 from €624 per person sharing a room for three nights, rising up to €1,339 per person sharing a room for a week. Sounds idyllic. Visit detox.adler-lodge.com.

CARLOW FOR WALKING:

Carlow is one of the hidden gems of the sunny southeast and those of us who live there would probably prefer it stays that way! But we’ll welcome amblers next week for the annual autumn walking festival where the majestic Blackstairs Mountains and River Barrow will be the focus. Among those doing the talking as well as the walking will be RTÉ’s Eanna Ní Lamhna. Visit carlowtourism.com. Travel@mailonsunday.ie
