Freezing shoot an Acceptable Risk for Elaine

-

MOVIE star Elaine Cassidy is starring in the nation’s living rooms in RTÉ’s new drama Acceptable Risk.

Elaine, right, told the Diary this week that she was so cold during filming that she vowed never to film in Ireland again.

The actress was stuck halfway up the Sugar Loaf mountain in her native Co. Wicklow on her second day’s shoot when the freezing temperatures got the better of her.

‘We all took turns with the colour just draining from us,’ she said.

‘No amount of blusher or bronzer would do and they had to break for lunch.

‘We were so cold, it made speaking difficult and I remember thinking “I’m never working here again – this is hell!”’

But the 37-year-old mother of two recovered from her ordeal and now admits she loved the three-month shoot.

A veteran of several TV series, including No Offence and The Paradise, in the UK, and Harper’s Island in the US, Elaine says she knew she was on to a winner with the new Sunday night drama.

She plays an affluent woman whose businessman husband is mysteriously murdered in Toronto. Angeline Ball plays the suspicious detective looking into the case.

‘It was really lovely to be back working in Ireland – it’s the best way to come home.

‘It was a really cold shoot but it was so lovely to be back.’

RTÉ said it was delighted with the reaction to last Sunday’s first episode, with 388,000 people tuning in – or more than 30% of the TV-watching public looking at it.
