Tadhg’s Swans song is music to Kerry ears
IT is always good to see a neighbour’s child doing well overseas, although that might not fully explain why Tadhg Kennelly’s appointment to the Sydney Swans coaching staff was greeted so warmly in Kerry this week.
Of course no one should be so naive to believe just because Kennelly (left) no longer heads up the AFL’s international recruitment drive, that young GAA talent will be off the professional game’s radar.
That will always be the case due to the cross-over in transferable skillsets and the final decision will always lie with those players.
It is just, particularly with the bustling production line in Kerry now, that Kennelly is spared the conflict of emotion that comes when you are the one charged with raiding your own orchard. Anyhow, football is Tadhg’s thing and knowing him he will never be happier than being back on the pitch with his old club.
