Second for Keogh and Crowley
ROWING: Aifric Keogh and Aileen Crowley got a ratings boost to eighth in the world after coming in second in the B final of the women’s pairs at the World Rowing Championships in Sarasota. The Irish duo went stroke for stroke with their Italian counterparts from an early stage and soon saw a gap open to the rest of the field. The pair even led with a quarter of the race remaining until the Italians upped their stroke rate and closed the gap before finally pulling clear to victory. Meanwhile, the final Irish competitor to take to the water is Sanita Puspure who goes in the Women’s Single Skulls this afternoon. RTÉ2 will have coverage from 3.30pm with highlights at 8pm.
