Hefner and me

-

The passing of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner at the age of 91 earlier in the week prompted memories of my days as a postman in Dublin in the Sixties when delivering copies of the magazine to subscribers on my route.

RTE news bulletins stated that while the publication was launched in 1953, remarkably it was banned in Ireland until 1995. Still many followers of the periodical in this country were delighted to get the latest issue popped through their letterboxes.

Sometimes patrons of the ‘naughty’ monthly on my route received their copies a day or two late as this mischievous ex-postman brought them home to my apartment for a free read.

I am happy to report that the contents did cause too much corruption.

Hefner was obviously a ‘great man for the women’ during his long stint on Earth and hopefully he is now flirting with angels.
