GIVING THAT OLD IPHONE A WHOLE NEW LEASE OF LIFE...

-

If you’re happy with your current iPhone or waiting for the X in November, you should be thinking about updating your current iPhone to Apple’s new mobile operating system, iOS 11. It’s a big upgrade and while it doesn’t look radically different, it has some wonderful features worth upgrading for.

Firstly, it makes set-up of new iPhones a snap with Automatic Set-up to get you started almost instantly. It has a really useful QuickType keyboard which let’s you switch it to one-handed mode and the keys instantly move closer to your thumb for easy typing. It also has a welcome safety feature, Do Not Disturb. The phone can sense when you might be driving and it stops you being distracted by texts, calls or other notifications. It can also notify people who do message you that you’re driving.

Apple has improved the lock screen with notifications accessible in one place, and by pulling down on the home screen you can see missed and recent notifications. The control centre has had the best make-over though. It’s been redesigned and you can easily access the settings for the things you do most. You can add various controls like smart-home features for easy access and you can use the 3D Touch to access even more commands.

There have been some teething problems, even with the recent upgrade, so keep an eye out for version 11.0.2 which promised to fix most of these. It can give your old iPhone or iPad a new lease of life and works from iPhone 5s or better and is available free to download.
