KEEP CUTTING THE UNFAIR USC

USC is praised by some commentators as a progressive tax we can’t do without because it applies to all our income. Yet this is exactly why it’s unfair! It cuts through all the fairness built into the tax system over many years through credits and allowances for widows, carers, single parents etc, for example.
All parties, in particular Fianna Fáil, have committed to not only reducing but abolishing it. This won’t happen in one go but the chipping away at it should continue.
