Outstanding journalism in the Irish Mail on Sunday
IRISH Mail on Sunday journalists have been honoured with seven nominations in the prestigious NewsBrands Ireland journalism awards, sponsored by the National Lottery.

Political Editor John Lee is nominated in two categories – as Political Journalist and in the Political Story category for his forensic work into the Templemore Garda College scandal.
Investigations Editor Michael O’Farrell is nominated for his agendasetting stories revealing top-up payments at the St John of God charity.
Nicola Byrne is also nominated in the Investigative Journalism category for her exceptional exposé of the treatment of Syrian refugees.
Showbusiness Editor Eoin Murphy’s exclusive of U2’s Croke Park gig is part of his nomination for Showbiz Journalist.
Valerie Hanley is nominated as Business Journalist for her stories on the dealings of developer Seán Dunne and wife Gayle Killilea.
In sport, Mark Gallagher’s exceptional body of work has earned him a nomination for the title of Sports Journalist of the Year.
The awards will take place in Dublin’s Mansion House on November 2.
