FASHION designer Vera Wang’s spring collection is so bizarre, even the author who inspired it is gobsmacked.

The bonnet chic range is based on The Handmaid’s Tale, the Channel 4 drama starring Elisabeth Moss, top right. But Margaret Atwood, who wrote the original novel about a dystopian society that treats women as property of the state, said: ‘I’m not sure what the message is. It’s considered to be an homage.’

So how does Vera explain her work, pictured right? ‘For the collection, control ultimately begets selfexpres­sion,’ she says. We’re glad she cleared that up…
