Quinn’s company dissolved as he eyes up US
FORMER footballer Niall Quinn’s media services business has been put into liquidation, the Irish Mail on Sunday has learned.
This comes after Quinn announced in August that he was leaving Sky Sports as a commentator.
A broadband business that he owned was put into liquidation in the same month. Alphasat Communications, which did much of its business in Africa, had creditors to the tune of €3.5m.
Now Niall Quinn Media Services Ltd has followed suit. The last recorded accounts showed a bumper year in 2015, when Quinn and wife Gillian were paid almost €700,000 by the company.
In August, the former Republic of Ireland international said he was leaving punditry at Sky to pursue another venture.
A spokesman for Quinn told the MoS he had dissolved his media company to concentrate on new business opportunities in the US.
‘He’s working very hard on some computer projects in the States,’ said the spokesman.
Last year, Quinn finally managed to sell Longstone Rath, his luxury home near Naas in Kildare, two years after putting it on the market. Described as a ‘six-bedroom mansion’, it was originally on the market for €2.5m but sold for €1m.
