Brexit bullying
As an avid opponent of the EU, I was heartened to read Sam Smyth’s article (MoS, October 8) where he painted a not-so-rosy a picture of the EU and Ireland.
Negotiations are ongoing between Britain and the EU on achieving a conducive settlement between both parties but it appears little progress has been achieved. Imagine a key employee is dissatisfied with his remuneration from his employers, so he informs them he is leaving. The choices are to offer the employee more money or tell him to go ahead and leave.
I find it inconceivable that any employer/organisation would not try to come up with an offer that might satisfy both parties.
But to downright try to bully, coerce and threaten the party with the grievance both exposes the EU’s own weakness and rules out any sort of agreement.
Britain and Ireland will do far better in every respect, when they are out of this corrupt organisation. Harry Stephenson, Kircubbin, Co. Down.
