Sheehan to star in Picasso series

FORMER Love/Hate actor Robert Sheehan will star alongside Antonio Banderas in a new TV series about the life of Pablo Picasso.

The role in the second series of National Geographic’s anthology series, Genius, will see the 29-year-old from Laois cast as Carlos Casagemas, a Spanish art student and poet who was one of Picasso’s closest friends.

The first series was about the life of Albert Einstein and was a huge hit, scoring 10 Emmy Award nomination­s. Since Love/Hate finished in 2014, Sheehan has been working steadily in TV and films. He had a part in the big budget Sky Atlantic TV series Fortitude which starred Denis Quaid and Ken Scott.

He can currently be seen on the big screen in the disaster movie, Geostorm, alongside Gerard Butler, Jim Sturgess and Abbie Cornish.

Next year he appears in the sci-fi film Mortal Engines which was written and produced by Peter Jackson, the man behind The Lord of the Rings.
