Donna is a Playboy fave in sunny LA
Singer is pals with Hefner’s son
FLAME-HAIRED former You’re A Star winner and ex-Eurovision contestant Donna McCaul is loving her life in sundrenched Los Angeles.
The Athlone native, 34, has told the Diary she’s even a regular performer at the world-famous Playboy parties.
‘I’m here four years now. I absolutely love it. You get up in the mornings and you don’t have to worry about bringing a jacket or if it’s going to rain. It’s always sunny.’
Donna is part of the band Weekend Celebrity and it seems they have become a huge success in LA. ‘We are doing great. We play in LA Live which is a huge venue so when there’s big sports games we play outside at the venue in front of thousands and thousands of people. We’ve played at the Playboy Mansion. Cooper Hefner, [the late] Hugh Hefner’s son, is a very good friend of ours. We’ve done a number of shows for Playboy, every time they have big events we play for them.’
Donna was recently at a midsummer event at the famed mansion and was invited to hang out with Cooper and some of the bunnies. ‘It was great, there were a lot of really cool people there,’ she said.
She also bumped into 26-year-old Galway model Shahira Barry who was also partying in the mansion.
Donna added that LA hasn’t only had a positive effect on her singing career.
She said: ‘The thing about over here is you’re watching everyone work out. You wake up constantly feeling good with the weather and you’re just always in good form. I was a lot heavier when I lived in Ireland.
‘Out here, I’ve lost a lot of weight but you can’t help going to different places and eating healthily.’
