‘He was renting a house in Monmouth County, New Jersey. In his bedroom was the four-track tape deck he’d recorded Nebraska on, and a ring binder with a picture of Snoopy on the cover, with all the lyrics written inside. He sat on the bed and he played the entire album while I read along from his ring binder.
