Malign influence
Valerie Hanley’s report about a nun blocking a teacher’s promotion (MoS, November 5) is a disquieting reminder of the influence religious bodies still have on the running of schools.
We may have moved on from the days when ‘fallen women’ were ‘read’ from pulpits for ‘getting into trouble’, but obviously some of the narrowmindedness that prevented this country from progressing in the past is still alive and sick.
It does seem that there is too much emphasis on religion and not enough on Christianity.
