SKY IS THE LIMIT FOR UBER TAXIS

-

Uber is revolutionising road transportation the world over. Now they are looking to the sky. Last week in Lisbon we heard from an Uber executive how they plan to take to the air, with flying taxis by 2020. Jeff Holden says UberAIR will utilise vertical-take-off and landing taxis that will travel at up to 200mph. Previously, Uber had talked of operating the air-taxi service in the future in Dubai and Dallas, but at the Web Summit, Holden named LA as another city where test flights are planned for 2020. Cities like LA are notorious for their dreadful traffic, resulting in commutes that take drivers hours every day. Uber believe their airborne taxis could reduce long commutes to minutes. Uber have signed an agreement with NASA and believe their craft will be engineered to be reliable and remarkably safe. The service will work a little like Uber Pool, where travellers share the cost between them, and there will be room for four passengers on the electrically powered UberAIR aircraft.
