Clothes blaze guts Jagger daughter’s £1m home
MICK JAGGER’S daughter Lizzy has been forced to move out of her £1m home after a fire gutted the top floor.
The blaze broke out at the period cottage – close to her mother Jerry Hall’s £13m mansion in Richmond, London – after an item of clothing was set alight by a bulb, say investigators.
Fashion model Ms Jagger, 33, has been staying elsewhere since the drama, according to neighbours. The frame and surround of the central upstairs windows are still charred black from the damage.
Builders are now in the process of restoring the two-storey property.
A neighbour said: ‘There were loads of firemen here. They had to smash their way in through the back door to get in.
‘Fortunately they managed to get the fire under control quite quickly, otherwise the whole place could have gone up.’
The drama unfolded on the afternoon of August 15 but has gone unreported until now.
Ms Jagger’s whereabouts at the time are not known.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said four fire engines and 21 firefighters were sent to tackle the blaze.
The spokesman added: ‘Half of the first floor of the property was damaged by fire. The cause of the fire is recorded as accidental. Clothing came into contact with a light bulb. No injuries were reported and our records do not state that anyone was in the property.
‘The property had a smoke alarm and this sounded.’
Ms Jagger has modelled for leading brands including Lancome, Tommy Hilfiger and Marks & Spencer. She is the eldest of Mick’s four children with Texan model Jerry Hall.
The couple’s 23-year relationship ended in 1999, but Ms Hall, 61, continues to live in the house on Richmond Hill that they once shared.
Ms Jagger was a bridesmaid at her mother’s wedding to media tycoon Rupert Murdoch, 86, last year.
Representatives for Ms Jagger did not respond to requests for comment last night.
