for the Fine Gael conference that bit the dust was the notion that ministers would move from table to table to discuss the affairs of the nation with suitably awed delegates. The scheme was dismissed with a snort of: ‘Speed dating with Richard Bruton – that’s what we joined Fine Gael for all right.’
