Brexit bluffer Boris
THAT the question of the Irish border has become so central to the Brexit negotiations, proves, yet again, how seemingly incapable the British government is in dealing with its greatest challenge since World War II. Of the many complexities yet to be resolved, surely the border issue is the most pressing. But anyone listening to British foreign secretary Boris Johnson this week, could be forgiven for thinking he is out of his depth. That is why Leo Varadkar should be applauded for insisting that Theresa May ‘put meat’ on her proposal for a ‘customs partnership’ with the EU. At least there is one leader who seems to know what he is talking about.
