➤➤ AS RUSSIA,
China and North Korea hack their way around the world, one result of their cyberspace war is the end of electronic voting. Need I remind you of our costly e-voting debacle 13 years ago. The then minister Martin Cullen spent €54million buying evoting machines and paraded around championing them – but it was a disaster, and they were later scrapped! And of course, the taxpayer took the hit. Last year’s US presidential election saw at least 21 states have their electronic voting compromised. It seems pencil-and-paper voting is here to stay – now, more than ever.
