The approach of Christmas makes my heart sink

-

I am looking around the shops and they are so full with Christmas stuff.

People feel pressured to buy all kinds of toys, decorations and presents and most of this will end up in the bin after Christmas. And as for food, people buy way too much and a lot of that ends up in the bin too.

It puts awful pressure on all the families suffering food and fuel poverty trying to cope.

Some families will have to borrow money to fund it all and struggle to pay it back. And it is all for one day. And apart from the cost there is the hassle and the extra work. I won’t be bothered too much about Christmas and that’s for sure. Maureen Lowndes, Geashill, Co. Offaly.
