Well said, Bob

I think Bob Geldof used his highprofile celebrity status very wisely recently when he personally returned his Freedom of the City of Dublin honour.

His public protest helped focus attention on the horrific treatment of the Rohingya Muslims by the Myanmar military and justifiably exposes the hypocrisy concerning Aung san suu Kyi, who also holds the same honour.

Geldof is sometimes unfairly categorised with other celebrities who actively seek media attention and publicity purely to enhance their own personal status. Bob is, on the other hand, a genuine activist and behind-thescenes peace campaigner who continues to highlight the shocking injustices perpetrated against vulnerable minorities.

He has once again decided to lead by example and opt for a plan of action instead of just spouting rhetoric.

In my view, Bob Geldof is a true inspiration and a beacon of hope. Laurence Slean, Dublin 7.
