ALLEGATIONS of sexual misconduct against Al Porter wrong-footed two news outlets this week – Hot Press magazine and the irish times – who published interviews recorded before he hit the headlines for the wrong reasons.

in an interview with Hot Press, which took place the tuesday before the allegations began circling (november 14), Porter said: ‘i don’t think i’ve sexually assaulted people in the past.’

He also said ‘trial by media isn’t a good thing. We also still have to rely on the fact that if you have been abused or assaulted you should be able to trust the gardaí to investigate it.’

in an interview with the irish times seven weeks ago, and published this week, Porter said: ‘if today FM fire me and the star stops wanting my columns, and people stop coming to the pantos and nobody wants me on TV, i’ll teach drama.’
