Bony’s winning strike leaves

-

WILFRIED BONY scored his second goal in as many games to send Swansea boss Paul Clement dancing down the Liberty Stadium touchline in celebration at a vital three points.

A poor encounter was decided in the 81st minute, when Bony lashed the ball past West Brom keeper Ben Foster after the visitors had failed to clear Ki Sung-yueng’s corner.

It meant Swansea moved off the bottom of the table and eased some of the pressure on Clement.

‘It’s a nice feeling to get the win and it was one we really needed,’ he said. ‘It was a scrappy game but we just about deserved to come out on top.

‘My celebrations were a mixture of frustration and a feeling of delight.’

Swansea remain second bottom but are now just a point from safety, while West Brom are only one place above the drop zone. ‘I thought we struggled to get Wilfried into the game in the first half but his winner was a big moment for everybody,’ Clement said.

Clement had shocked the Swansea faithful by selecting Wayne Routledge and Nathan Dyer either side of Bony. Renato Sanches was dropped from the squad entirely.

A quiet opening period saw West Brom dominate possession, despite Swansea defender Alfie Mawson heading a Ki corner over the bar. At the other end, West Brom By Alex Bywater
