Woman stabbed in bottle horror

A YOUNG woman was stabbed in the neck and arm with a broken bottle just 200 metres from a lively Christmas market yesterday.

Gardaí were called to a walkway on the seafront in Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin, shortly after 3pm yesterday.

An Asian woman in her 20s was brought to St Vincent’s Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries.

Gardaí sealed off the scene last night. No arrests have been made and they are appealing for anyone with informatio­n to contact them at Dún Laoghaire Garda Station.

The Garda press office said last night: ‘Gardaí are seeking witnesses, following what is believed to be an assault on a woman in her 20s at Dún Laoghaire.

‘The injured woman, who is described as Asian, was found close to the baths at Queens Road at about 3.20pm.

‘She was been taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital with serious neck and arm injuries.’

‘The area is sealed off pending an examinatio­n by scenes-of-crime garda examiners.’

‘Anyone with informatio­n or who was in the Queen’s Road area this afternoon between 3pm and 4pm should contact Dún Laoghaire Garda Station on 01 666 5000.’
